About us
For over 30 years, Key has provided a range of housing advice, support and accommodation services to young people at risk of homelessness, and their families, and helped local people experiencing hardship
The charity, in consortium with De Paul UK and Places for People, is contracted by South Tyneside Council to allocate accommodation for any young person in the borough presenting as homeless.
As well as preventing youth homelessness, the charity works to empower young people by giving them the support, knowledge, and confidence they need to live independently, and to realise their full potential whether through education, employment, or training.
In partnership with Churches Together South Tyneside, the charity delivers Key to Life Foodbank, the longest running foodbank in South Tyneside, which plays a crucial role in supporting some of the most vulnerable within our community. The food bank is open 10am-4pm, Monday to Friday, and is based at Boldon Lane Library with drop-off points around South Shields.
Key Community Bus is a mobile food service and community hub with an ethos of reducing food waste, promoting healthy, affordable food accessible to all, and offering advice on related issues.
